Pulling Toward Zion

“Pulling Toward Zion” It is a depiction of a group of 500 Handcart Pioneers known as the Willie –Martin Company that pulled 120 handcarts, From Iowa City, Iowa to Salt lake City, UT a journey in excess of 1300 miles. Not leaving Iowa City until July 15th 1856 they encountered fierce winter storms which began October 19th in present day Wyoming. Rescuers sent from Salt Lake found them starving on the high plains and escorted them to Salt Lake arriving in late Nov. 1856

Please Don't Hurt My Mules

"Please Don't Hurt My Mules," Brent was inspired with the title from the movie Dances with Wolves. These mules were actually part of the mule team used in Dances with Wolves. Their names are Jim and Jake. Check them out and see if you recognize them. Brent put a lot of time and effort into this one. This was his most involved painting with all the mules, horses, and people.
